🌙 Inspiring Young Minds Through the Stars

About Us

About Us

Who We Are

Celestial Reach Inc. is a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Sophie Duan to expand access to astronomy and space science for K-12 students. Guided by the belief that the universe belongs to everyone, we create immersive experiences that spark wonder, encourage resilience, and help young learners discover their potential among the stars.

Our Mission

At Celestial Reach, we believe the universe belongs to everyone. We are dedicated to making astronomy and space education accessible, inspiring, and meaningful for students of all backgrounds. Through immersive astronomy education, community outreach, and creative programs that blend science with mindfulness, we empower K-12 students to explore the universe and discover their own potential among the stars. In doing so, we hope to ignite wonder, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning in youth, fostering both intellectual growth and inner peace.

Our Story

Sophie created Celestial Reach to close the generational gap in astronomy. After noticing that most stargazing events were attended by retirees and rarely youth, and that space science is rarely taught in schools, she set out to bring the universe directly to K-12 learners. Our mission is to make astronomy accessible, inspiring, and meaningful for students of all backgrounds. Through stargazing nights, hands-on workshops, guest speakers, and outreach programs, our student-led team partners with educators and community organizations to spark curiosity and build lasting connections with the night sky.

What We Do

At Celestial Reach, we create programs that make astronomy engaging, accessible, and memorable for students and families. Our initiatives are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and inspire a sense of wonder in every learner.

Hands-on Workshops: Our workshops are where exploration comes alive. Students investigate real scientific concepts through creative, interactive lessons that make space feel close and exciting. Each session invites learners to build, experiment, imagine, and end with a moment of reflection, helping them see their own place in a vast, beautiful universe.

Guest Speaker Presentations: We connect students to the cosmos through talks from astronomers, engineers, astronauts, and science storytellers who inspire curiosity and the courage to dream boldly with real stories and science.

Space Exploration Projects: These projects let students think like astronauts, engineers, and mission planners through hands-on challenges that build STEM skills and creativity. Each activity encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and big ideas about what it takes for humanity to thrive beyond Earth.

Community Stargazing Nights: Under the night sky, everything feels connected. Stargazing Nights bring students, families, and communities together under the night sky with guided activities, telescopes, and star maps. We partner with schools, libraries, and local astronomy groups to create memorable events that make the universe accessible to everyone.

Astronomy + Mindfulness Sessions: We blend starlight with stillness. Our cosmic mindfulness activities help students slow down, breathe, and notice the wonder around them. By connecting astronomy with well-being, we help students build confidence, peace, and a sense of belonging that extends way beyond the classroom.

Global Volunteer Programs: With chapters around the world, our volunteers bring astronomy to homeschool groups, special-needs schools, church groups, libraries, and classrooms — ensuring that the joy of learning and the universe is universal. We empower young leaders to teach, inspire, and spark curiosity in their own communities.
